Congratulations to the Grocer’s Top 100!

Congratulations to the Grocer’s Top 100!

For UK grocery brands the annual top 100 as published by The Grocer magazine is a big deal. Ranked by absolute value it’s a veritable who’s who of the great and good. The brands we live with, the brands we love, some old favourites and a few new(ish) pretenders.

And this year we’ve noticed an exciting trend. Of the top 100 announced last week – 65 have at some point won a Product of the Year award for innovation!

Kellogg’s which has jumped from 11th to 10th scored a win this year with its innovative healthy option cereal W.K Kellogg Plant Protein. With Heinz (6th) winning for its Creationz Range and setting the standard in 2005 (Product of the Year’s first year) by bagging the award for its iconic and innovative Upside Down Tomato ketchup Bottle.

Coca-Cola, narrowly missing out on the top spot in second place has won multiple awards and this year walked the red carpet to collect a Product of the Year trophy for its Honest Lemonade – and that’s the truth!

And where would we be without Cadbury? The nation’s favourite and the UK’s biggest selling UK grocery brand has also basked in some Product of the Year glory over the years taking home awards in 2009 for Wispa and in 2013 for Cadbury Twirl Bites.

We’re happy to report that of the 10 biggest brands, nine are Product of the Year winners winning the right to feature the iconic red logo on all their marketing & communications (from packaging to social media to TV) – and with 2021 open for entries in the not too distant future we’re confident that next year we’ll score a perfect 10!

Congratulations to the 100 – we’re chuffed to have been a part of the success and we look forward to showcasing some more of the winning products over the coming weeks.
