21 Aug Soft Drinks Make A Splash!
The pandemic has turned everything on its head. How we work, how we shop, the food we eat, the drink we drink, the vacations that have become ‘staycations’. And whilst the impact and changes in habit have been different for everyone – one universal theme is a sharper focus on diet and health. Less sugar, more plant-based meals, foods that are good for our gut, products that will help keep our immune systems strong and in check.
So at Product of the Year we wanted to take the opportunity to shine a light on some of the innovative new soft drink products that have caught our eye over the last few months – all of which embrace and exemplify the magic ‘3 P’ mantra of: passion, purpose and personality.
Get More Vits Fibre Water is a market first. A spring water drink that provides 20% (6g) of the daily recommended dose of fibre. It’s also sugar free, Vegan-friendly and is only 16 calories per bottle. That’s a lot of innovation in a small bottle.
In June, Buxton made the headlines with it’s flavoured water debut – a new Plant + Water range with a trio of unexpected flavour combinations including Lime, Lemon & Sage; Blood Orange & Rosemary and Pomegranate & Basil. Infused with magnesium and billed as helping reduce fatigue and tiredness (not to mention bottles made from 51% recycled PET) – we applaud this audacious and welcome addition to the flavoured water family and expect to see more drinks products exploring the power of plants.
PepsiCo-owned Naked Juice (I’m addicted to their Green Machine Smoothie) launched a trio of low sugar smoothies in February called Naked Lean. 40% lower in sugar than other smoothies and containing only naturally-occurring sugar from fruit and vegetables – they are healthy addition to the smoothie market that most definitely live up to their name.
And continuing the health-conscious consumer trend, Purity Soft Drinks added to its Juiceburst range earlier in the year with the launch of three vitamin waters: Orange & Pomelo Immunity Booster; Cherry and Berry Fatigue Fighter and Apple & Kiwi Go.
These brilliant new product innovations are just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to the exciting array of new soft drinks hitting the shelves. And because there are so many great new products out there – next week we will be shining the Product of the Year light on four more!
