A trip down winners memory lane
With the entry window for Product of the Year 2021 drawing to a close – we thought what better time to take a stroll down memory lane and celebrate some of the brilliant food and drink products that have walked the red carpet and picked up awards over the past five years.
Last year Arla Foods won for it’s smart, user-friendly Lurpak Butterbox. The brand’s first block packaging innovation since 1957 it was a hit with the judges and a welcome addition to the supermarket shelves.
In 2019 the unforgettable Grenade Carb Killa blew away the competition and bagged a winner’s trophy for its standout protein bar. Famous for doing things a little differently Grenade manage to stand out for all the right reasons – and in a hugely competitive, saturated market that’s no mean feat. And with 12 flavours including the ingeniously named Jaffa Quake and Peanut Nutter – the future for this Product of the Year winner is looking good, very good.
2018 saw two hugely popular brand stalwarts score wins with distinctive product innovations. Gordon’s picked up a coveted trophy for it’s Premium Pink Gin and Taylor’s of Harrogate won for its amazing first to the market Coffee Bags. With a combined age of approximately 380 – they are proof positive that the best of the best keep innovating (despite their vintage!) to meet the ever-changing consumer needs.
2017 saw a flurry of food and drink products top the podium including Flora Freedom Dairy Spread, Asda Extra Special Sausages, Arla Best of Both Milk (BOB) and everyone’s favourite treat – Golden Oreos. It was a stellar year with big brand names fighting it out for the chance to sport the iconic red Product of the Year logo on their packaging.
And last, but not least, five years ago Tetley Super Green Tea, Ritz Crisps & Thins, Arla Skyr and Birds Eye Stir your Senses all donned their finest to accept awards for great examples of outstanding product innovations.
So who will be the 2021 winners? The wait will soon be over…
