At Product of the Year we are all about celebrating innovation and this week some of the UK’s biggest brands have made some interesting moves that caught our attention.

Heinz Beanz, the much-loved heritage brand, announced this week that it is opening a street food pop-up designed to showcase new ways to eat and enjoy Beanz. Taking a culinary trip around the world the UK’s favourite bean will be taking centre stage in an array of dishes including: Huevos Rancheros, Curry Pani Puri and quails eggs and avo tortillas.

Commenting on the foodie adventure Asmita Singh, marketing lead for Heinz UK Foodservice said “…we hope people love seeing their beloved Beanz in a new light…”.

Another big brand getting creative and making some bold moves is Pernod Ricard’s Beefeater Gin. A brand quite literally ‘going up in the air’ Beefeater are opening a tiny pub on the London Eye. The ‘pub pod’ complete with de-facto dark wood and red velvet pub décor will be offering a broad selection of gins including the new Beefeater Peach & Raspberry that is inspired by two recipes dating back to the 1800s that were created by founder James Burrough. Unsurprisingly stock online for this peach of a gin is already low!

Hard seltzers are big bucks in the US ($3.8bn in 2019) and the UK market is catching up fast with big-name brands lining up to grab a share of the fizz. Enter Budweiser sub-brand Bud Light that has launched a fruity seltzer range that it hopes will capitalise on a changing drinking culture among younger people.

The hard seltzer category is one we are watching with interest and it feels an opportune moment to offer a shout-out to Echo Falls who picked up a well-deserved Product of the Year 2021 trophy for their summery (and delicious…) Blueberry & Hibiscus Rosé Seltzer.
