27 Jan 2022 Winners Announced
The Product of the Year awards 2022 are finally revealed – and a fine looking bunch they are too.
Reflecting the way we all live now, the worthy winners have reacted swiftly and brilliantly to the changing times, casting a magic wand of innovation across the everyday products that are essential to our lives.
Undeterred by the last challenging two years, brands big and small have continued to drive their products forward, demanding more from them than ever before. We salute all the winning teams who have worked so tirelessly to make this happen, from household names such as Unilever, Procter & Gamble and Premier Foods to rising stars including THIS™, Emma Sleep, Starpowa.
Many of our worthy winners will become must-haves in our homes. The Costa brand, a British success story since 1971, has three winners, successfully bringing its coffee shop style into busy household kitchens, while no and low alcohol drinks, once gathering dust on the lower supermarket shelves, are smashing the innovation ceiling. Our winner SMASHED Berry Cider stands proud alongside alcohol brand Inch’s Medium Apple Cider, a worthy winner from the Heineken stable.
Vegan products are also top of the tree this year, with THIS™ winning its first Product of the Year award for its plant-based cocktail sausages. Other vegan and plant-based heroes include Paxo Veggie Fillers and Alpro Double Chocolate Mousse & Alpro Pistachio Mousse.
The home remains the heart of our lives and 2022’s victors reflect that shift we’ve seen over the last two years. Wagamama Katsu Curry Meal Kit is a winner for dinner, while the host of innovation in cleaning products, from Dettol’s Tru Clean range to Astonish Clean & Revive, shows we want our home to sparkle like never before.
Talking of sparkle, we are sad that the sequin dresses and dinner suits have had to stay at home as well after we took the very tough decision not to hold our awards show this year. We promise that we’re already working hard to ensure we come back in 2023 bigger, bolder, brighter and more sparkly than ever.
It shows that we really do understand how tough the past year has been. We are staggered at the hard work that has continued in the sector despite the obstacles in the way. We applaud all those businesses big and small who have stepped up to the challenges and delivered just what the changing shopper wants and needs. They say that ‘necessity is the mother of invention’ – words that might just as well have been coined to describe the achievements of our brilliant winners.
Congratulations to all our winners! We wish them huge success over the coming year, as they plough ahead with the privilege of using our coveted red logo – the stamp of success for the past 18 years.
