It’s fun to be foolish and some of our most-loved brands have entered into the spirit of April 1^st tomfoolery and come up with some perfect pranks that have had us mighty impressed at Product of the Year HQ.

As Friday draws to a close we thought we would share our top picks of brands that have entered into the spirit of the day and ‘produced’ an array of stand-out spoof products:

WALKERS

Who doesn’t love a crisp sandwich? But delicious as it may be,  it’s a habit riddled with drama and mishap. Crisps falling out, not flat enough etc etc. So our friends at Walkers have ‘created’ a giant bread-shaped crisp! Or have they? A genius piece of product innovation – were it but real…

KOTEX
Period stigma is no joke – and to make the point Kotex has ‘launched’ U Chocolate Pads. Bold and brilliant – and everything you would expect from a brand on a mission. 
 

HELLMANN’S
It’s the ultimate sweet and savoury mash up that nobody wants to imagine – let alone try! Luckily it’s a product that exists only in the bonkers/brilliant minds of those mayonnaise aficionados at Unilever. A confident brand that’s always ready to play a joke on itself.
 
 

TANGO
Tango – the maverick big-personality fizzy drinks brand has brought us a mash-up that reflects our taste in takeaways. There’s even a ‘fizz and chips’. ..Thankful for the chuckle and even more thankful that it isn’t real! Take away? Yes please.
 
BOVRIL
Beefy brand Bovril has teamed up with Sheffield FC to bring at-seat dispensers of its warming drink to football fans. This one has a cosy feel-good retro feel to it – and we’ve been wondering how it would look at Product of the Year HQ? More of a smile than a chuckle – but a winning piece of spoofery nonetheless.
 
 

CAMPO VIEJO – The red/white dilemma is finally over – and we’re not talking Rosé. Definitely an innovation we’d be happy to see at Product of  the Year!

We’re definitely glad that Brussel Sprout Slimfast and Walls Scotch Egg custard won’t be materialising!
