To Sleep, Perchance to Dream….

To Sleep, Perchance to Dream….

Apparently two-thirds of a cat’s life is spent asleep – while giraffes only need 1.9 hours per day! We humans sit somewhere in the middle and on average will spend 26 years and 3 months of our lives in bed – which is quite the sleep!

We are more aware than ever of the health benefits of good sleep and conversely the negative implications of sleep deprivation – both physical and mental. And recognising the proven correlation between a good night’s sleep and well-being, Bensons for Beds, the UK’s largest bed retailer, teamed up with charity partner Mind to support its Do One Thing campaign for World Mental Health Day.

Bottom line? Sleep is good and over the past few years a number of innovative mattress brands have stepped up and made it their mission to come up with the dream (ouch!) product.

Casper, Simba and Emma have all been part of a revolution in mattress manufacturing and marketing over the past few years and all have been rewarded with coveted Product of the Year awards – the ultimate accolade for product innovation. And taking up the mantel there are a host of great new and established mattress brands on the market that are wowing consumers and critics alike.

Nectar launched in 2017 and offers an incredible 365-night trial plus a lifetime warranty. It also arrives in a box and is also the only mattress company in the UK to be climate neutral. Kind to our sleep and kind to the planet.

Otty, another bed-in-a-box, includes an innovative cool blue gel layer for great temperature control and has been singled out for providing exceptional support for your spine. They have also launched the innovative hybrid bamboo and charcoal mattress – the first on the market and the perfect choice for anyone suffering with allergies.

Launched in December 2014, Eve Sleep has become a much-loved and trusted go-to mattress brand – and it’s easy to see why. Distinctive branding (we love the yellow), great customer service and a commitment to sustainability plus some creative marketing (remember the pop-up nap station?) continue to set this mattress brand apart.

And last, but by no means least – Brooke and Wilde. The newest mattress kid on the block (and in a box) has hit the ground running picking up plaudits aplenty with the Elite version packing no fewer than eight layers and 28 cms of luxury into its mattress ensuring plenty of dream filled Zzzzzzzs. UK based, with the mattresses manufactured in Derbyshire, it’s a British brand through and through and definitely one to keep an eye on.

Phew! It’s definitely time for a snooze…
