16 Jun Putting the Fizz into Product of the Year
THERE was a new date in the Product of the Year diary this year.
Our annual awards have traditionally been a winter fixture, giving our guests an end-of-January lift but, after the gloom of recent times, some fun in the sun was definitely overdue.
The inaugural Product of the Year summer party certainly provided that much-needed ray of sunshine. Held at the Ham Yard Hotel, the buzz of Soho reached right down to the hotel’s Dive Bar where our guests mingled contentedly, enjoying a champagne cocktail or three.
It’s been a tough few years for everyone and we’ve felt it too. The last two of our in-person awards’ shows have fallen victim to the winter resurgence of Covid, and we were missing seeing our supporters in person.
The summer party put things right. The evening was the perfect chance for the crowd to catch-up with colleagues and competitors from P&G, Unilever, Mars, Danone, Costa Coffee, Pladis, Molson Coors and many more. It brought together our supporters and friends, and gave us the opportunity to celebrate all things Product of the Year – now in its 18th year.
Never ones to miss out on the opportunity to celebrate success, we invited the teams from two of our recent winners, Birds Eye Green Cuisine Chicken-Free Dippers and Surf Coconut Bliss Liquid Detergent, to come on stage – during a brief break from cocktails – so we could congratulate them for the amazing use they have made of the Product of the Year logo, which all winners can splash around for 12 glorious months from the date of their win. As Rachel Greene, Marketing Manager for laundry at Unilever, told us: “We are very proud to have won and we plaster the logo everywhere!”
With the July 31 deadline for entries for Product of the Year 2023 looming, we’re looking forward to hearing about the new award-worthy innovations. It’s been a period of huge change for society that we fully expect to be reflected in a raft of exciting entries.
With the venue booked for our awards show in January, we’re looking forward to gathering once again then.
