Brand Heroes

Brand Heroes

It’s been a week of celebrating and thanking heroes, not least #CaptainTomMoore who yesterday turned 100, older than many brands!

It’s a strange time for brands. Some have got into their stride quickly with strong messages of support while others appear to be struggling to find a voice – unsure of how to communicate a POV within the context of the crisis.

There is little doubt that consumers are wanting and expecting brands to step up and play their part. The following are a select few that have stood out, for all the right reasons, this week.

Camden Hells beer has become Camden Heroes – a brilliant gear change for a brand that is never slow to show its hand. With all proceeds going to charities supporting healthcare heroes – the iconic can (now blue) is shining brightly.

Reckitt Benkiser (RB) owned Dettol has also created some headlines this week with the announcement that it is donating 150,000 care packages to NHS staff. An example of a major household brand stepping up and contributing – doing what they do best, helping to keep frontline workers safe in their homes.

Simba, a 2020 Product of the Year winner, wants NHS staff and healthcare workers to have the best sleep possible and are offering a 50% reduction on their mattresses until 30th June. A smart brand that is seldom caught napping.

And finally a shout out to the Red Devils, Manchester United, who are funding an initiative to provide 60,000 meals for NHS staff.

Brilliant examples of brilliant brands flexing and innovating to meet the extra-ordinary needs of today.
