30 Mar Brands Step up to Fight Pandemic
We may be in lock-down but that isn’t stopping UK and global brands stepping up and out of their comfort zones to do their bit. Unprecedented times that are galvanising brands to innovate and adapt – helping to support the global effort to combat the Coronavirus.
Take Brewdog – the cheeky, maverick punk brewer has ditched beer in favour of hand sanitiser producing Brewgel at its distillery in Scotland. A shift in focus matched by uber luxury brand LMVH that is using its perfume facilities to manufacture some sweet-smelling sanitiser and distribute free. And Italian fashion brand Prada is swapping fashion for facemasks and overalls – producing 110,000 and 80,000 respectively.
And it’s not just the big players that are doing their part. British watchmaker Bremont have submitted an application to turn over its factory to the production of ventilator parts. Re-purposing skills and harnessing expertise to meet a desperate need.
Zara is making scrubs; Unilever has committed to provide free soap, sanitiser, bleach and food to the value of €100 million; Dyson is producing life-saving ventilators and UK hotel groups including Best Western, Holiday Inn and Travelodge are offering up their hotels as additional hospital space.
There’s a way to go, but these brilliant brands are part of an extraordinary collective effort to help fight the pandemic.
